This Cruise Ship Has 6 Restaurants Included in the Cruise Fare (I Tried Them All)

[ad_1]

Note: This post is sponsored by Marella Cruises. All thoughts and opinions are my own based on my 6 Cruises with Marella.

I recently took a cruise on Marella Discovery 2 where the cruise fare includes six restaurants. That is far more than most other cruise lines.

Whether you prefer buffet-style meals, sit-down dining or snacking, there’s something to suit everyone.

Here’s a look at each of the included options on board so you can find out what to expect from the different menus.

#1. 47° – The Main Dining Room

47° is the main dining room on board.

It is an elegant, sit-down restaurant with waiter service.

This restaurant offers a new menu every night and serves a mix of international dishes.

It is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner each day.

Many cruise lines don’t open the main dining room at lunchtime, so it is always a pleasant surprise for me to see the main dining room open during the day.

If I have had a busy morning in port, it’s a real treat to come back onboard and enjoy a leisurely sit-down lunch.

A crew member took this photo of me. Isn’t it cool?
I was taking photos elsewhere in the dining room when he saw me, and said, “Come over here. I know the best spot!” and took this photo! What a superstar.

#2 Gallery 47° – Italian Dining

Gallery 47° is on the second floor of the ship’s main dining room. It serves pasta, pizza, and other classic Italian dishes.

It is another sit-down restaurant with waiter service.

You’ll find this trendy Italian restaurant on the second floor of the ship’s main dining room, 47°. It’s a laid-back place, where bookings aren’t necessary, and its designer look features a colour scheme inspired by the sunset. As for what’s on the menu, you can expect authentic Italian dishes, including regional favourites.

#3 Islands – The Buffet

Islands is a casual buffet with a wide selection of hot and cold dishes.

It is open for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night snacks.

A wide range of food is available – everything from a cooked English breakfast to international cuisine.

I often pop into the Marella buffet for a light breakfast or a snack. There are always plenty of dishes I want to try, I am spoilt for choice.

#4 The Glass House (Partially Included)

In The Glass House, you will find menu options that are included in the cruise fare, along with a few other dishes that come at an extra charge.

It is perfect for casual dining and has indoor seating by the pool area on deck nine.

I don’t think many people realised they could eat here free of charge when I was onboard. It was never busy, and we never had a problem getting a table.

#5 Snack Shack – Quick and Easy Bites

Snack Shack is a great venue by the pool.

It offers many dishes, including burgers, hot dogs, wraps and sandwiches.

Snack Shack is by the pool on all Marella ships.

If you don’t want to leave the sun deck, it is a fabulous place to go for a quick snack or casual meal.

The snack shack’s dress code is always casual, so anything goes. You must wear shoes for health and safety reasons, but this is the only dress code.

It is very convenient because it is close to the outdoor pool. You can wear swimwear, shorts, t-shirts, sundresses, or other casual outfits.

They also have free cookies! What’s not to like?

#6. Piccadilly’s – Classic British Comfort Food (New!)

Piccadilly’s is the newest included restaurant on Marella Discovery 2.

On Marella Discovery 2, Piccadilly’s restaurant is on Deck 5, opposite Gallery 47°. You can just turn up when you are hungry. There is no need to book.

It serves a great range of British classic dishes – fish and chips, pies, roast dinners etc.

A typical menu

Most of the food on the menu is included in the cruise fare, with a few extra special offerings, such as Rack of Lamb or Lobster Thermidor, at an additional charge.

It’s fabulous if you want a taste of home whilst you are cruising.
