Princess Cruises Cancels Regal Princess Departure from Galveston
The upcoming voyage of the Regal Princess, originally set to depart from Galveston on October 27, 2024, has been unexpectedly cancelled by Princess Cruises.
“Due to unanticipated technical maintenance required for the Regal Princess, we regretfully have to cancel your upcoming journey,” the company announced to affected passengers.
The vessel, launched in 2014 and recently repositioned from Europe, had been scheduled for a seven-night trip through the Western Caribbean. The itinerary featured stops in Cozumel, Mexico, Belize City, Belize, and Roatán, Honduras, with a roundtrip route departing from Texas.
Princess Cruises assured that all guests will receive a complete refund of their payments, along with an additional Future Cruise Credit (FCC) amounting to 25% of the cruise fare. This FCC can be applied to bookings made before May 31, 2025, for cruises sailing by May 31, 2026.
For those who arranged travel through Princess EZair, flights will be cancelled, and any associated fees reimbursed. Guests who booked their flights independently are advised to contact their airlines directly, with Princess covering up to $200 in air change fees.
“We understand and sincerely apologize for any frustration or inconvenience this cancellation may cause,” the company said in a statement.
Following its summer season in Europe and the UK, the Regal Princess began a transatlantic repositioning journey to North America earlier in October. The 21-night crossing saw the ship visiting ports in Western Europe and the Caribbean, including stops at Le Havre, France; Funchal, Madeira Island; and St. John’s, Antigua.
The Regal Princess is set to resume operations with a series of seven- to eleven-night Western Caribbean voyages from Galveston, running through early April 2025.
